This adjustment ensures that our calendar aligns with the Earth's orbit around the Sun.
The month of January derives its name from Janus, the Roman deity revered as the guardian of gates and doorways, representing both commencements and conclusions. Janus is often portrayed with dual countenances—one gazing into the past and the other possessing the foresight to peer into the future. This symbolism is particularly apt for the inaugural day of the year, as January serves as the gateway to the upcoming months.
