Welcome to our 24th edition of Velasco Chronicle & Buzz.
July is here, the true month of summer. The month of July is prime vacation month with the best warm weather of the year, and Fourth of July, which is the best party of the year because it lasts all day. July is the time when a drink by the pool is all you need and when you seriously consider moving to a part of the world where weather like this never ends. As we approach the seventh month of the year, we have lots to look forward too. Whether it is that family vacation you have been planning all year, summer camps for the kids, or just planning to enjoy your summer vacation poolside or at the beach.
July is known as the warmest month in the Northern Hemisphere on average and is known for being the midway point of the year. Sometimes the hot, long days of July are called the "dog days of summer". It is sometimes called the Hay month because the grass dries out due to a lack of rain and can be made into hay.
We also celebrate American Independence Day on the Fourth of July every year. We think of July 4, 1776, as a day that represents the Declaration of Independence and the birth of the United States of America as an independent nation. The fourth is also a great day to have a backyard barbecue, plan a camping trip, take the family down for a beach day, or plan another outdoor activity!
July is hot, and it’s uncomfortable, but that’s just how summer is! Make sure you take a break from the heat and get take a day trip to the lake, or even better – a day at the beach! However you decide to spend the hot summer days, rejoice - the year is halfway over already!
